Expendables 3: EXPLOSIVE NEW DETAILS! (or just interesting)

One of the most ridiculous and enjoyable franchises of the past decade has just shifted the third installment into high gear, with principle photography beginning over the past few days.

Of course I am talking about Expendables 3 which is shaping up to be just as awesome as part 2, even if the plot seems recycled from other movies.

This installment is lacking Bruce Willis and Chuck Norris, but pretty much everyone else is returning. Source is Superherohype.com and the Lionsgate Press release.

Synopsis
In THE EXPENDABLES 3, Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables -- but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet. Release Date August 15, 2014.

Notice it doesn't say what Ford's role is, but if you don't mind some insane speculation here is my scenario.

Barney gets a phone call or an email stating that there is another mission awaiting his team. Barney goes to the place expecting Church, instead he is greeted by Ford. Barney of course responds with a "Who the hell are you and where's Church?" expecting a trap.
Ford replies, "Church went too far and became a liability, he is on administrative leave." "You killed him?" "No he is very much alive, but I think we can help each other out" Barney ready to get to the point  "Let's cut the bullshit, what is you want from me?." "Direct I like that, well there's a problem from the past that has resurfaced and is causing us grief, I want you to take care of this problem." "I don't see how your problem effects me, you deal with it" Barney starts to walk away but Ford continues "Don't you walk away from me, I have enough to put you and gang of girl scouts away for a long time! And don't think I won't"  Barney turns around  "Are you threatening me?" "I don't make threats, I make promises."

Skip ahead a few minutes later

Barney is looking at a file on Stonebanks. "I killed him years ago." "Obviously not". Ford points at some photos "Those were taken a month ago, and there's more" "Why now?" "Because we didn't have enough to evidence to connect him all that he's suspected of. It's all there in the file"  Barney looks through the file and comes across one atrocity after another. "Damn... I should have finished the job then" Ford smiles "So you accept?" "Yes". "But this has to be done my way" "This is personal, and I will finish the job how I see fit" Barney gets up to leave and Ford rises to his feet and slams his fists on the desk. "No dammit!" Barney glares at Ford who points angrily at Barney "If you kill him we can't make an example out of him. the people need to see that you don't screw with us! You just make a martyr of him, and we don't need another damn martyr for these people. You kill him and I will lock you and merry band of pixies up in hell! He will brought in alive."

Barney walks out to gather the team.

So from there we get to satisfaction in that Gibson would be brought in alive and potentially used in a sequel down the road.
