Fantastic Four to Share Cinematic Universe with X-Men?

The answer is a resounding maybe. This comes after Mark Millar seemingly confirmed that the two franchises would share a universe, and then later "clarified" saying, that they are indeed in the same C.U., but they each have their own corners and they aren't going to play with each other. Thanks to Superherohype

Lets take a look and exactly what was said, but first we need to jump.

We needed the exercise. But now the news!

First up the seeming slip of exciting news!.

“Without question I think you have to see some of these guys showing up in each other’s movies. I think the most exciting thing in superhero movies, until The Avengers came along, was when Nick Fury showed up in Iron Man. Even though it was a guy with an eye patch it was really cool – and I expect we will see more of that.”

Then the denial!

"They exist in same universe but movies stand alone, There is NO crossover planned."

I think he was denying the possibility of a Team-Up movie. and it is way too early for that. Fantastic Four has to establish itself first as a viable franchise without the aid of outside help. If they drop Hugh Jackman or whoever in the movie, they can never be sure who brought the audience was it the F4 or is it X-Character?

He never mentioned the possibility of a crossover in the first place,  what he said was that the characters could show up in each other's movies. Which implies to me that perhaps we will get to see the characters in passing. Maybe a brief scene like at the end of Iron Man, something that sets up a hell of a cross over 4 or 5 movies down the road.

If you can bear with me, I will be doing some more inane and completely implausible speculating.

Personally the best characters to cross over with F4 are either Hank McCoy or Professor X.

Hank could be working on a cure for the legacy virus which in the movies could affect anyone with Superpowers and he needs Reed's help.

Or even better, Professor X shows up at the end of the Fantastic Four and says I have need of your assistance. and there is a flash of either of the Phoenix or maybe the living island where the X-Men are held captive.

In regards to phoenix this would set up the return of Jean Grey and Cyclops with no real problem. They were simply wrapped up in a cocoon of energy that protected them. The Jean Grey that Wolverine killed was simply Madeline Pryor who, thanks to the power of the Phoenix was split off from Jean Grey and was the manifestation of Jean's dark side.
After Madeline was killed, phoenix went back into space where it came from in the first place but for reasons unknown it is returning to earth and it represents a threat to Shi'ar empire as well..... INTERGALACTIC WARS!
Anyway Reed would have perfected a way to make the X-jet (The blackbird) a perfect vessel for space travel and developed awesome space weapons to deal with threats from space.

Or perhaps most likely,

At the end of the first F4 movie Ben will be drinking at a bar, where Stan Lee is course the bartender, and he is talking about the hell he just went through "Bein' a hero ain't all it's cracked up to be" his unseen friend says "You got that right.." they raise their beer mugs and clink them together and as they connect the camera pans around  to reveal Wolverine "..Bub".

As you all know by now, I love to speculate. However they speculations are insane and make no sense. But it's fun! So join in with your theories and speculate away, can't be anymore stupid than mine.
